GPEC’s Mitchel Allen named Economic Developer of the Year

PHOENIX (May 10, 2017) – Mitchel Allen, Vice President of Business Development (Industrial) for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, has been awarded Economic Developer of the Year, Large Community by the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED). This annual award is presented as part of the Economic Development Distinguished by Excellence (EDDE) Awards. Overall, eight EDDEs were presented during an evening awards dinner at the AAED Spring Conference in Lake Havasu City.
The Prestigious EDDE Awards honor individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to the advancement of the organization and to economic growth within the state of Arizona. Recipients are selected from a pool of nominations made by members of AAED. As an integral team member of GPEC, Mitchel specializes in providing market analysis and site-selection assistance to manufacturing and distribution companies looking to expand or relocate to the region. He has facilitated corporate expansions leading to the creation of more than 2,300 jobs, resulting in an investment impact of more than $115 million to the Greater Phoenix region.
Past winners of the Economic Developer of the Year award include GPEC’s Senior Vice President of Business Development, Brad Smidt in 2008 and GPEC’s President and CEO, Chris Camacho in 2011.
