Meet Gilbert-based artist Neil Coyne featured in our Snapshot of Greater Phoenix Exhibit
What do you find most rewarding about being an artist in Greater Phoenix?
I find the vibrancy of the multicultural artists and people of Greater Phoenix to be exciting. Inspiring as I travel through the vast landscapes from the surrounding vistas to the looming city!
How do you perceive the role of arts and culture within our community?
To be able to bring awareness through art, to be able to help promote the culture of our community is paramount in helping others to see who we are. As an artist this is a crucial role!
What advice would you give to aspiring artists looking to engage with the local art scene?
To the aspiring artist: come see us. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Dance with us. Sing with us. Paint with us!
If given the chance, which famous artist—living or deceased—would you choose to have dinner with, and which local restaurant would you take them to?
Georgia O’keeffe and we’ll explore some taco shacks! Backyard tacos perhaps as I am a Gilbert person! But, I’m not limited to one artist!
When you’re facing a creative block, where do you typically seek inspiration?
What? Creative block? Lol, I just step away and come back. Perhaps cook, read, look at other artists!
