Hi, I’m Sammy!

I used to live in San Francisco, but when my employer changed its policy to allow employees to work remotely permanently, I took that as a challenge to find a home base that gave me the life I always dreamed of. After a lot of research, I selected Scottsdale, Ariz.

Most days out of the week I wake up early, pick one of the many mountains that are within 20 minutes of my house to hike, grab a smoothie on my way home, take my dog for a walk and get ready to sit in my home office, and get to work.

Scottsdale is the #1 American city for millennials to work remotely.

One night a week I join the local sand volleyball league at Chaparral Park for some added fun and connection. On weekends, I hop on my bike and head over to either Maverick or Lakeview coffee shops. The Greater Phoenix area is known as a place where it’s easy to be new. I quickly felt like I was one of the ‘locals’ and everyone here has been so welcoming! And, with the money I saved by moving here, I have more flexibility to travel, save for my future, and splurge a little here and there.

In 2019 Scottsdale was ranked as one of the best places to find a job so I know that if I ever look to transition, I’m in a location that is bustling with tech jobs. In fact, Zoom Communications announced they are opening a new R&D facility here in 2020. Not to mention, the startup ecosystem is doing some really exciting things.

Scottsdale was ranked one of the top 10 staycation locations in 2020.
